Where Paper Construction Timesheets Fall Short

Sheets filled in at the end of the week

Times written from memory are rarely exact, and small errors add up across a crew.

Chasing sheets from every site

Someone has to collect, photograph or drive round for timesheets before payroll can start.

Re-typing hours into payroll

Every handwritten figure gets keyed in again, with another chance for mistakes.

No proof anyone was on site

A paper sheet can't show whether a worker was actually at the job when the shift started.

What Changes When the Timesheet Fills Itself In

Clock in from a phone

Crews start and finish shifts in the browser on their own phone — no app to install.

GPS check at clock-in

A shift only starts when the worker is within the job site's approved radius.

Hours by job site

Every shift is tied to the site it was worked at, so project hours are already split.

Totals calculated for you

Daily, weekly and overtime totals come from the stored start and finish times.

Payroll-ready export

Download the pay period as a CSV for your payroll software or bookkeeper.

From Clock-In to Payroll-Ready Timesheet

  1. 1

The employee clocks in from their phone

They open Time-Clocking, pick the site they're working at today and tap Clock In.

  2. 2

    GPS confirms the location

Their distance from that site's approved area is checked at that moment. If it doesn't pass, no shift is created.

  3. 3

    The hours are recorded

The clock-in time is stored, and the clock-out at the end of the shift closes the same entry.

  4. 4

The timesheet is ready for payroll

Totals per employee and per site build up as shifts complete, and export as a CSV when you run payroll.

Construction Timesheet Template Questions

What should a construction timesheet include?

At minimum: the employee's name, the date, the job site or project, start and finish times, unpaid breaks, total hours, and a signature from the worker and supervisor. The free template includes all of these.

What format is the template?

It is a CSV file, which opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers or LibreOffice. You can print it as a paper timesheet or fill it in on a computer.

Is the template really free?

Yes. There's no sign-up and no email required to download it.

How do I work out total hours on the timesheet?

Subtract the start time from the finish time, then take off any unpaid break. Our free timesheet calculator can do the maths for a whole week if you'd rather not add it up by hand.

When is a template not enough?

Paper and spreadsheet timesheets depend on people writing times down accurately and handing them in. If you're chasing sheets, re-typing hours or unsure whether crews were really on site, a mobile time clock removes those steps.

How is Time-Clocking different from a timesheet template?

Crews clock in and out on their phones, the location is checked against the job site at clock-in, and totals per employee and site are calculated from the stored times and exported as a payroll-ready CSV.
